Tools Every Driver Should Keep in Their Car

Car ownership comes with a lot of responsibilities to protect your vehicle from unseen danger or damage. Routine maintenance and a comprehensive car insurance policy are definitely important. But, you also need more. You should be prepared to handle any unforeseen situations happening with your car by stocking the right tools in your vehicle.

Jumper Cables

You just can’t do without jumper cables if your car breaks down in the middle of the road. If you get stranded due to your car’s battery being dead, you need these cables to jump-start its engine. They should always be in good, workable condition. Ideally, buy at least 10-foot long jumper cables so you can stay protected when things go wrong with your automobile.

Lifehammer

This is a simple tool that can be attached easily to the driver’s seat using velcro or double-sided tape. A lifehammer can be a lifesaver in the case of an emergency when you get stuck inside your car. Situations like a fire breakout can be fatal if someone is trapped inside the vehicle. However, it can be averted with the help of this simple, yet essential tool that helps to break the windows and lets you escape out of the car.

A Tire Pressure Gauge

The tires of your car should always have optimum air pressure to run smoothly even on the roughest roads. Hence, you should keep a tire gauge handy in the trunk. This tool can measure the amount of air pressure expelled from the tire after it is attached to a valve. There is a small cylinder that is marked with pounds per inch (PPI) on a tab. There are also digital tire pressure gauges to provide accurate readings of air pressure.

A Flashlight

Emergencies never strike at a time and place of your choosing. Rather, they are always unwanted and unwarranted. So, if your car breaks down in the dark hours of the night, you’ll need a flashlight to do the repairs. Choose a flashlight that comes with a magnet on one of its sides to allow hands-free use of the light. However, you should ensure that its batteries are always charged to their full capacity.

Screwdrivers

These are basic tools that should be available in every vehicle. No matter what model car you drive, components can become loose with regular use, vibration while driving or other specific reasons. Before the problem is blown out of proportion, you can tighten the screws that came loose. All you need is a screwdriver and different socket sizes to fit every component in your car.

Tire Chains

If you drive on icy roads, there is a persistent risk of the car slipping due to snow or ice buildup. Here, tire chains can come to your rescue. You should carefully read the instructions given in the user manual of your car to prevent any such slippery conditions.

These are some essential car care tools that every driver must have in their vehicle to tackle emergency situations.
